Accessibility Statement

Draft for attorney review. Last updated [date set at launch].

Our goal

Valen Wellness wants everyone to be able to find a service and book with a provider on this website, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard, voice control, zoom or other assistive tools. Our target is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA.

This statement covers the website run by Valen Wellness Aloha LLC. It is a goal we work toward and check, not a claim that every page is perfect.

What we built in

  • A “skip to content” link at the top of every page.
  • Full keyboard use, with a focus outline you can see.
  • Form fields with clear labels, and error messages that screen readers announce.
  • Pop-up windows that keep keyboard focus inside them and close with the Escape key.
  • Less motion for people who turn on reduced motion in their device settings.
  • Text descriptions (alt text) for images.
  • Text and background colors that meet a contrast ratio of at least 4.5 to 1.
  • Pages that work on a phone and when you zoom in.

How we check

We test every page template with the axe-core accessibility checker and with keyboard-only use before launch. We check again when we add new page types or change the design.

Known limits

Some parts of the site come from other companies, and we cannot fully control how they work:

  • Booking apps. Each independent provider uses their own booking app. It opens in a window on our page or in a new tab. How accessible it is depends on that company.
  • The laser studio booking system. The studio books through an outside booking service, which has its own design.
  • Maps. The map loads from an outside company only when you click it. Our Visit page also explains how to find the center in plain text.
  • Spam checks. Our forms may use Cloudflare Turnstile to check that a visitor is a person. Most people never see a challenge, but if one blocks you, tell us.

If one of these does not work for you, we will help you reach the provider or the laser studio another way.

Tell us about a problem

If any page is hard to use, use the contact form on our Visit page (/visit/). It helps us to know:

  • the page address or what you were trying to do;
  • what went wrong;
  • the device, browser and any assistive tool you use, if you are comfortable sharing.

Please do not include medical information. If the contact form itself is the problem, someone helping you can send the message on your behalf, and we will follow up with you.

At the center

This statement is about the website. If you have questions about getting to or moving around the center, or need an accommodation for a visit, use the same contact form and we will answer. For a booked appointment, you can also ask the provider directly through their booking app.

Updates

We review this statement as the site changes and post the date of the latest update at the top of this page.
